Karachi Centre for Dispute Resolution joins hand with Trade Dispute Resolution Organization to promote settlement of trade disputes between foreign and local importers and exporters

Karachi, November 05, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Karachi Centre for Dispute Resolution (KCDR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Trade Dispute Resolution Organization (TDRO) recently to promote the efficient settlement of trade disputes between foreign and local importers and exporters. It is has been determined that the two organizations will work collectively in order to promote awareness regarding mediation as the most effective means of alternative dispute resolution.

KCDR is a ‘not for profit’ society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and was established with the assistance and approval of the High Court of Sindh. It was supported by the International Finance Corporation/World Bank Group and offers mediation services as an institutionalized alternative dispute resolution mechanism to parties.

TDRO was established in pursuance of the Strategic Trade Policy Framework 2012-2015 in order to take swift action for early resolution of trade disputes and educating and training exporters and importers to avoid disputes.

It is expected that the alliance between the two organizations will set a benchmark for the continued establishment of mediation as a go-to mechanism for alternative dispute resolution in trade disputes.
