Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry urges Prime Minister to convene roundtable of political parties and business leaders to prepare strategy to weed out menace of terrorism from country

Lahore, November 05, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to convene a roundtable of political parties and business leaders to prepare a strategy to weed out the menace of terrorism from the country.

In a statement issued here Wednesday, LCCI President Ijaz A. Mumtaz said that recent tragic incident at Wagah Border Lahore has proved that menace of terrorism is still alive and should be tackled with collective approach.

He said that all political parties and business leaders should work hand in hand to prepare counterterrorism strategy, translate it into a national action plan with specific timeline and improve the perception of Pakistan.

Ijaz A. Mumtaz, while calling for a sustained and well-coordinated action to cope with terrorism, said that security and operations of business and industry are directly inter linked with each other as unsecured climate in a country means “no business development” and no prosperity.

He said that poor law and order situation in Pakistan is among the impediments in the way of local and foreign investment as the existing state of law and order in the country has often been questioned by the potential foreign investors.

The LCCI President said that the business community understands well that sincere and serious efforts are being made by the government and Anti-terrorist agencies of Pakistan, and they have, in many ways, succeeded to uproot the menace to a great extent. These efforts are, without doubt, greatly commendable. The sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army as well as persons from Anti-terrorist agencies in discharging their duties to the nation are worth-saluting.

He said that a roundtable of the political parties and business leaders would help fight out the terrorism once for all.
