Karachi, The city celebrated its vibrant sports culture with the recent Softball Championship, highlighted by a special dinner hosted by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for participants. Senior Director of Culture and Sports, Raza Abbas Rizvi, emphasized the importance of fostering sports activities to showcase youth talents.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the event drew notable figures including Senior Director of Media Management Ali Hassan Sajid, Director of Sports Aftab Qaim Khani, and key members of the Softball Federation, President Asif Azim and Secretary Naseem Khan. Rizvi, in his address, recalled the historical support of KMC for sports, referencing the civic reception in 1992 for the Cricket World Cup winners and the successful organization of last year’s Karachi Games, which featured 5000 athletes from 52 sports.
The ongoing commitment to sports by current Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab and Municipal Commissioner SM Afzal Zaidi was also highlighted. They have been instrumental in organizing various sports events and providing essential municipal facilities to support these initiatives. Ali Hassan Sajid pointed out that such endeavors not only enhance physical and mental health but also engage the youth in positive activities.
The event was marked by an exchange of souvenirs between Federation President Asif Azim, Secretary Naseem Khan, and Senior Director Raza Abbas Rizvi, celebrating the first-ever hosting of this tournament in Karachi with participants from all four provinces.
