Karachi: Karachi Electric Supply Company has received ISO-9001:2008 certification for its 220-MW Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) at Korangi.
The International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) issued the certificate in recognition of quality management at the plant by KESC to meet the requirements of the standard.
The certification, first ever in the history of KESC, demonstrates the commitment and dedication of management and entire team of the CCPP towards a complete turnaround of the Company according to international standards.
The management has been taking all steps to transform KESC into a viable commercial institution based on international best practices. Other than best quality management at the ISO certified power plant, addition of 450 MWs into network; fast track progress over new 560-MW power station at Bin Qasim; shifting of entire billing system to IT based infrastructure; redesign of management and HR policies on dynamic lines; enhancement of call centre 118; installation of more grid stations, power supply feeders and transformers; and, stability of system against emergencies like rains are a few hallmarks of the ongoing turnaround.
The operating results of the company have also improved significantly and signs of an operational and financial turnaround are clearly visible.
