Karachi Metropolitan Corporation declares emergency in hospitals and health institutions with immediate effect till Aashura Muharram

Karachi, November 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has declared emergency in all of its hospitals and health institutions run by its Medical and Health Services Department with immediate effect till Aashura Muharram.

A Notification in this regard was issued by Senior Director Medical and Health Service according to the decisions taken by the competent authority. Consequently medical superindents/M.O Incharge, Doctors of all the hospitals and health institutions of KMC had been advised toensure the required precautionary measures including availability of the medicines and presence of officers, staff and necessary items to face any untoward situation or emergency during Muharram.

They have been advised that leave especially extra-ordinary leave of officers/officials including medical superintendents, M.O Incharge, Doctors, Nursing, Paramedical Staff and allied supporting staff in all the hospitals and health institutions of KMC should not be considered till Aashura of Moharram.

A Central Control Room with arrangements of ambulances has been also established in the Poly Clinic at ground floor of Civic Centre which will work till Ashura.

Meanwhile a letter has been issued by Metropolitan Commissioner KMC Samiuddin Siddiqui to the Managing Director KW and SB, Director General Engineering KMC, Director General Parks and Horticulture KMC, Senior Director Municipal Services KMC, Senior Director Medical and Health Services KMC, All Administrators of District Municipal Corporation and Director Local Taxes KMC regarding arrangements for Muharram ul Haram, which said that in order to provide the basic facility to the citizens of Karachi and to facilitate the processioners during Muharram ul Haram 2013, the competent authority of KMC has desired to ensure/provide following arrangments on priority basis.

These include filling of the pot holes, repair and maintenance of road on main Moharram Procession area from Numaish Chowrangi to Hussainia Iranian Imam Bargah and to ensure proper lighting, cleanliness and removal of debris from the routes of processions with the maintenance of sewerage lines and availability of drinking water on the route of processions.

The Local Taxes department has been directed to clean all procative wall chalking and remove such banners from the route of processions and the Director Municipal Services was directed to ensure availability of USAR team and fire brigade staff along with fire tenders on the designated places and fumigation around the major Imam Barghas and routes of processions.

The Senior Director Health and Medical Services has been directed to ensure availbility of doctors, paramedical staff along with ambulances and sufficient emeregency medicine at the designated places during Moharram.
