Karachi, The city of Karachi and its cultural community are mourning the loss of the renowned actor Talat Hussain, who passed away recently. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab described Hussain as a national treasure whose contributions to Pakistani arts made the country famous worldwide.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab expressed his condolences while speaking to media representatives after attending Talat Hussain’s funeral prayer. He highlighted Hussain’s influential career in radio, theater, television, and film, noting his pivotal role during the nascent days of television broadcasting from Karachi. Hussain was celebrated for his unique dialogue delivery and commanding screen presence, which earned him a prominent position in the entertainment industry.
Mayor Wahab reflected on Hussain’s deep interest in literature, particularly English literature, which he both studied extensively and contributed to through his writings. In recognition of his substantial contributions to the arts, the Government of Pakistan honored Talat Hussain with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, one of the nation’s highest civilian awards.
With Talat Hussain’s passing, Mayor Wahab remarked that an era of culture, art, and traditional acting has ended. He emphasized the rarity and legendary status of an artist like Hussain, whose “magic of voice spoke loudly” to audiences across generations.
Mayor Wahab concluded his remarks by praying for Hussain’s forgiveness and offering condolences to his family, underscoring the actor’s lasting legacy in Pakistan’s cultural history.
