Karachi, In a significant move toward reforming police operations, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi, focusing on enhancing the functionality and public perception of police stations across the region.
According to Sindh Police, the meeting included top officials such as the Additional IG Operations, DIGs of T and T, Headquarters, IT, and Admin Karachi Establishment, and Finance, along with DIG Asim Qaim Khani. The session featured a comprehensive briefing by the DIG Establishment and Admin Karachi on police staffing issues and operational challenges.
IG Sindh emphasized the need for appointing competent, hardworking, and properly trained officers to police stations to foster a more people-friendly environment and bring about a positive change in the police station culture. He outlined a series of comprehensive reforms aimed at long-term staff deployment under regular procedures and improving police station infrastructure. This includes the installation of CCTV cameras both inside and outside police stations, with detailed arrangements and cost estimations to be reviewed.
Additionally, IG Memon directed the preparation of a detailed list of the vehicles available and required for effective policing, along with a final set of recommendations for manpower supply to police stations. The directive also includes plans for police stations to become financially independent starting from the next financial year, aiming to streamline operations and reduce bureaucratic red tape.
