Karachi Water and Sewerage Board working on emergency basis to improve revenue recovery

Karachi, November 11, 2012 (PPI-OT): Karachi Water and Sewerage Board is working on emergency basis to improve the revenue recovery. Recovery from defaulters has been speed up and Managing Director Misbahuddin Farid requested the officers and employees of revenue department not to stop working during the long holidays from Thursday – Sunday and the upcoming Ashura Holidays.

Despite the Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi urs holiday on Thursday, Iqbal Day on 9th of November and regular public holidays on Saturday and Sunday offices of the Revenue Department were open and working on their full capacity for the betterment of the institution.

M.D KW and SB along with DMD Revenue visited Revenue Offices in different areas to observe the performance of the officers and employees. He said that it is very important that the revenue department achieve its target before the upcoming Ashura Holidays.

He said that it is our first priority to provide the citizens with exceptional water and sewerage facilities and a huge sum is required to carry the operations out. It is only possible to keep working up to the standards required by improving the revenue situation of the institution and the revenue department must work hard to bring the institution out of the economic crisis.

He said that the citizens of the city must understand their duty and help KW and SB by paying their monthly bills on time. He said that the water supplied to the citizens of Karachi goes through three different Pumping Phases and filtration process. However, KW and SB does not include any charges for the sums spent on all these processes except the minimal service charges that are billed on monthly basis.

He said that to bring the institution out of the economic crises is only possible with public cooperation and directed the officers of KW and SB to work closely with the elected public representatives and devise a revenue policy with their advice. He directed his staff to go door by door to motivate the public that they should pay their bills on time and ensure that the bills are delivered on time.
