Kashmiris observe Black Day against Indian occupation

Abu Dhabi, November 11, 2012 (PPI-OT): ” The negotiated settlement of the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India through dialogue and engagement will help achieve much needed peace and prosperity for the region”. This was stated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE Jamil Ahmed Khan while addressing the Kashmir Black Day function organized at the Embassy of Pakistan today. Mr. Khan referred to the recently concluded talks between the Foreign Ministers of the two countries in which both sides agreed to resolve all outstanding issues including Jammu and Kashmir through negotiations.

A large number of Kashmiris residing in UAE assembled in the premises of Embassy of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi to show their solidarity with their brethren back home and also to condemn the human right violation action of Indian troops usurping the territory in 1947 without any legal or moral justification.

The observance of Black Day on 27th October every year is aimed at attracting attention of the International Community to the occupation of Kashmir by Indian forces, plight of Kashmiris due to ongoing operations and to the imperative need of resolution of Kashmir issue, to the satisfaction of Kashmiri people.

In his remarks Ambassador Khan further stated that the objective of the observance of Black Day is to draw world attention towards the plight of the Kashmiri people and to appeal to the international community to take cognizance of the human rights violations and the urgency of resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations. He said that it is also aimed at sending a loud and clear message in that regard.

Khan said, on this day, the people of Pakistan renew their resolve to continue their support for struggling Kashmiri brothers till they achieve their cherished objective and for that Pakistan will continue its social, moral, political and diplomatic support to the struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right of self-determination.

On the occasion, Kashmiri leaders also addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of the day and called upon the Government of India for the cessation of hostilities in Indian held Kashmir as well as find solution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiri people. The speakers re-affirmed the resolution of Kashmiris to continue the liberation struggle despite Indian State terrorism, till the objective is achieved.

The audience was also shown a documentary on the Kashmir Black Day. The brochures, posters, booklets and articles relevant to the occasion were distributed amongst the participants. The posters were also displayed in the Hall where the Kashmir Black Day was organized.

Special prayers were offered at end for the martyrs of Kashmir.
