Kashmir settlement vital for peace in South Asia

Srinagar, December 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior leaders of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi and Shabbir Ahmed Shah, have said that Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and its settlement is essential for ensuring permanent peace in South Asia.

Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi addressing a meeting of the activists of his party, Anjuman Sharie, in Badgam said that India had promised to give the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination but the commitment was yet to be fulfilled despite the passage of several decades. He said that the world community should pay attention towards settling the lingering dispute to secure the region from looming threat of nuclear war. He hailed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for adopting a resolution on Kashmir saying that the OIC was aware of the sufferings of the Kashmiris.

Shabbir Ahmed Shah, addressing the activists of his party, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, in Shangus area of Islamabad district said that Kashmiri people had rendered unparalleled sacrifices to get rid of Indian bondage. He urged New Delhi to give up intransigence and take steps to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

APHC leaders, Zafar Akbar Butt, addressing different meetings in Civil Lines area of Srinagar and Syed Bashir Andrabi in a statement appreciated the OIC for adopting a resolution on Kashmir. However, they said that mere passing of resolutions would not work and the OIC should initiate practical measures to impress upon India to give right to self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Bashir Ahmad Butt, addressing a function organized by the party in Sopore in connection with the death anniversary of noted resistance leader, Sofi Muhammad Akbar, paid glowing tributes to him.

The forum patronized by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement in Srinagar eulogized the services of Sofi Muhammad Akbar and Mujahid commander, Shams-ul-Haq, for the Kashmir cause.
