Kashmiri American Scholar Highlights Ongoing Subjugation in IIOJK at Washington D.C. Event

Washington, D.C.: At a commemorative function in Washington D.C., Kashmiri American scholar Dr. Imtiaz Khan spoke out against the continuous severe conditions faced by the people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the ruthless actions of Indian forces in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr. Khan detailed incidents dating back to the July 13, 1931 massacre, where Dogra troops killed 22 Kashmiris, sparking a significant movement against Dogra rule. He criticized the Indian government’s current policies which he claimed mirrored the brutality of the past, citing the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) as a tool for oppression.

He noted ongoing human rights violations, including the detention and mistreatment of Kashmiri leaders like Yasin Malik and the late Syed Ali Gilani, highlighting the international community’s silence on these issues. Dr. Khan, along with other speakers at the event, called for global attention to the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination and respect for their human rights.
