Kashmiri Leaders Mark July 19 as Symbolic Accession Day to Pakistan

Srinagar: On the anniversary of July 19, 1947, Hurriyat leaders in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir reiterated the historical significance of the day when Kashmiris expressed their preference to join Pakistan, even before the official partition of the Indian Subcontinent.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the resolution for Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan was passed unanimously by the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference at the residence of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan. This day continues to be observed as Accession to Pakistan Day annually, symbolizing the Kashmiris’ longstanding desire to align with Pakistan.

Prominent APHC leaders, reflecting on the day’s historical importance, reaffirmed the Kashmiri people’s commitment to their right to self-determination and their ongoing struggle against Indian rule. They advocate for a free and impartial international referendum to decide the region’s future, highlighting the undying spirit of the Kashmiri resistance movement inspired by the events of July 19, 1947.
