Kashmiris Remember K. H. Khurshid on His 36th Death Anniversary

Muzaffarabad, Communities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and various parts of Pakistan are marking the 36th death anniversary of K. H. Khurshid, a notable Kashmiri leader and the first elected President of AJK, with reverence and remembrance ceremonies today.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation League is organizing special events across AJK, including in Muzaffarabad and Mirpur, to honor Khurshid’s enduring contributions to the Kashmiri cause. The principal commemorative event at Khurshid’s tomb in Muzaffarabad involved Quran Khawani and a dedicated function celebrating his legacy.

Efforts were made to ensure that the commemorations were conducted with the due respect and solemnity befitting the late president’s memory. In Mirpur, another significant tribute took place, recognizing Khurshid’s role and dedication as a pivotal figure in the struggle for Kashmiri self-determination.

K. H. Khurshid, who also served as the Private Secretary to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, left an indelible mark on Kashmiri nationalism and advocacy for rights. His untimely death in a road accident on March 11, 1988, was a significant loss, but his vision and dedication to the Kashmiri people’s self-determination rights continue to inspire current and future generations.
