New Delhi, Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, has accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of orchestrating a plot to kill her husband, who is currently in Tihar Jail. She made these claims while addressing a rally in Ranchi, asserting that Kejriwal’s meals are being monitored in jail, suggesting a threat to his life.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Sunita Kejriwal said, “Cameras are installed on his meals. Every bite he takes is being monitored. This is so shameful. He is a sugar patient and is taking insulin for 12 years, but he is being denied insulin in jail. They want to kill the Chief Minister of Delhi.”
She criticized the BJP government for allegedly running a “dictatorship” by imprisoning the Delhi Chief Minister and his Jharkhand counterpart, Hemant Soren, without proven guilt. She questioned the grounds for Kejriwal’s arrest, attributing it to his efforts to improve education and healthcare in Delhi. She emphasized Kejriwal’s commitment to public service, claiming that he put his life at stake for the people of Delhi.
Arvind Kejriwal was arrested last month by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. The AAP claims Kejriwal’s blood sugar level has reached 300, yet Tihar Jail authorities are not providing him with insulin. Kejriwal, who has Type-2 diabetes, will remain in jail until his next hearing on April 23.
Sunita Kejriwal’s allegations have drawn attention to the treatment of high-profile detainees in India and the potential health risks posed by inadequate medical care in jail. The situation has fueled political tensions, with AAP supporters and opposition parties questioning the BJP’s handling of Kejriwal’s case.
