Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry appreciates Nargis Sethi for launching crash programme to curb electricity theft

Lahore, November 03, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Saturday appreciated newly appointed Federal Secretary Water and Power Nargis Sethi for launching crash programme involving stick-and-carrot policy, in order to curb electricity theft and increase revenue for circular debt-ridden power sector.

In a statement issued here, the LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar said that uniform power supply was a long standing demand of the business community and if the decision to supply electricity without discrimination is implemented in letter and spirit, the industrial productions are bound to register visible surge.

The LCCI President said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry understands that power pilferage is impossible without connivance of the department, and the Secretary Water and Power has hit the nail on the head by issuing a strong worded warning to the employees of the department.

The LCCI President, however, suggested to the Federal Secretary to announce Incentives Scheme for big electricity consumers who have a clean record, as the step would not only strengthen power companies recovery drive but would also discourage electricity theft in all parts of the country.
