Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry demand Punjab government to launch operation against Encroachments

Lahore, December 27, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Thursday demanded of the Punjab government to launch operation against encroachments as are not only creating hurdles for smooth flow of traffic but also adding to cost of doing business.

The demand was raised by the Convener Standing Committee on Local Government Affairs Ilyas Majid Sheikh at a meeting held here at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. LCCI former Executive Committee members Khawaja Khawar Rashid and Mohammad Yousuf Shah also spoke on the occasion.

The Convener said that the LCCI members appreciates Punjab government action against encroachments a few months back but since they are cropping up again therefore there is a need to re-launch the operation. “A hurdle free movement of vehicles is a must for timely delivery of goods.”

Ilyas Majid Sheikh also stressed the need for construction of parking plazas in and around the city markets so that the shoppers and the businessmen could conduct their respective activities with a peace of mind.

“Parking Plazas is direly needed in the city of Lahore to avoid hap-hazard parking of vehicles that often causes accidents.” On Commercialisation fee issue, there was a consensus among the participants that this fee must not be charged from those markets that were established before partition.
