Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry urges the government to focus on equipping the students with right skills

Lahore, September 26, 2012 (PPI-OT): The President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Irfan Qaiser Sheikh has urged the government to focus on equipping the students with right skills and information technology based knowledge as the maximum utilization of the human potential is key to success and a necessary ingredient to make Pakistan a developed country.

Irfan Qaiser was addressing the closing ceremony of “10th LCCI Web Development Course” at the LCCI. LCCI Vice President Saeeda Nazar was also present on occasion.

The LCCI President said in the knowledge race in the 21st century and rapid globalization, the quality of information technology based higher education has to be enhanced to bring it at par with international standards for the sake of progress and prosperity.

“And to achieve the goal, the government would have to spend more on education as the existing budget is too meager to produce desired and required results.”

He said that it had now become very important to do all possible to help the next generation as today they are competing with the students from the developed world when they enter into the job market.

“Right out of the gate of their Alma Mater, our students face altogether new challenges, therefore they must be equipped well to cope with these challenges and for the purpose the educational institute ions must continue to review and upgrade their curricula.

He said that the educations must stay in touch with private sector to get a feedback on upcoming industry requirements regarding new hiring. The curriculum should be designed in proper consultation with the private sector that has both the ability and the capacity to guide the educationists in right direction.

Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that in today’s world the Information Technology is of utmost importance, in the job market the people having knowledge of computers are given preference over those who are without it.

He said that the only objective behind starting computer courses at LCCI is to equip members of this chamber with latest business technologies so that they could be able to go global. At the end, shields were given to Ali Bin Abid, Amer Riaz and teacher Mian Asif Khalil.
