Lahore High Court Upholds Age Limit for Competitive Exams, Ends Candidacy for Petitioners

Lahore: The Lahore High Court has dismissed a series of writ petitions seeking age relaxation for candidates of the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) in Punjab. The court’s consolidated order, issued on January 17, 2025, affects multiple petitioners who had sought to challenge the existing age restrictions.

According to a statement by Public Service Commission Punjab, the court’s decision affects three specific writ petitions, including W.P. No. 2271/2025, W.P. No. 2316/2025, and W.P. No. 2399/2025, all of which were dismissed. As a result, the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has cancelled the candidature of the petitioners for Phase-II of the CCE, scheduled to take place from January 18 to February 3, 2025.

The petitioners, who were granted provisional admission to the Phase-II of the examination, have had their ‘Admission Letters’ withdrawn. The PPSC has taken steps to inform the affected candidates, using email and SMS to mitigate any inconvenience.

The court’s ruling reinforces the existing age limitations for the exam, impacting the petitioners’ ability to participate in the upcoming examination phase.
