Malaysian Consul General’s address to Soap Association

Lahore, October 01, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Malaysian Consul General Mr. Khair-ul-Nazran Abd Rahman has assured to take special endeavour for supplying all Palm by-products at very reasonable prices so to make it accessible to the general consumers. It was stated by him while addressing the Annual Dinner of Pakistan Soap Manufacturers Association as Chief Guest today at a local hotel. Regional Manager MPOB Johri Minal and renowned personality of the business community, Abdul Rashid Jan Muhammad attended the event as Guests of Honour. The outgoing chairman of the Association Mr. Usman Ahmed presented the address of welcome and the newly elected Chairman Mr. Zafar Mehmood paid a vote of thanks to guests on this occasion.

The Consulate General Khair-ul-Nazran Abd Rahman thanked the Association members and said that we have a very good relationship with all the traders of Pakistan and especially the importers of ghee, oil and soap industry. He assured that efforts will be made to improve it. We will endeavour to supply all Palm Bye products at very reasonable prices so that it is accessible to the general consumers. He vowed that there would be fruitful talks between the ministers of the two countries so that the businessmen and the people of both Islamic countries would be benefitted from it.

He reiterated that genuine problems of soap industry would be resolved in a good manner. All the obstacles obstructed will soon be removed so that the soap industry can get on the path of development. Guest of Honour Rasheed Jan Mohammad appreciated the services of the Chairman of Soap Association and requested the Malaysian Consulate General to use their efforts to promote the soap industry. In the last, the newly elected chairman of soap association, Zafar Mahmood, thanked the honoured guests and hoped that they would do their utmost to solve the recent problems of Soap Industry.

The outgoing Chairman of the Association Mr. Usman, in his address of welcome, said Malaysia is a country from where raw materials of soap making are imported. Taking advantage of the presence of the Consul General of Malaysia, he made a brief introduction to his association first and highlighted some of the issues facing the soap industry. Highlighting the importance of the soap industry, he presented manufacturing data of washing soap, toilet soap, detergent powder, value additions and revenue figures which government gets from the soap industry.

He mentioned the trade agreements between Pakistan Malaysia as well as the importance of trade volume under the FTA and PTA, adding that most of the raw materials for the soap industry are imported from Malaysia. Both countries are business partners but the balance of trade is in favour of Malaysia so Malaysia should give maximum benefits to the soap industry and special care should be taken so that members of our association will not have difficulty obtaining a visa. Usman Ahmed also emphasized that Malaysian investors should invest more in Pakistan so that Pakistani products can have better access to the Malaysian market.
