Managing Director Karachi Water Sewerage Board discuss water supply issues of Orangi Town with Lawmakers

Karachi, July 31, 2013 (PPI-OT): Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Misbahuddin Farid during the visit to Orangi Town meet with Members of National and Provincial Assembly to discuss different water supply related issues in Orangi Town. He also conducted a detailed visit of Water Supply facilities in Orangi Town with Chief Engineer Bulk and Distribution and other officers.

M.D KW and SB taking strict notice of water shortage expressed his displeasure and directed that shortage in all areas must be eliminated immediately and a proper strategy must be formulated to ensure that residents of Orangi town get fair supply. Any complaints during last Ashra of Ramazan would not be tolerated.

M.D KW and SB also took notice of leakages from valves and pumps at different pumping stations and directed that all leakages must be stopped to ensure that water is not wasted. He also expressed his concerns over cleanliness of Pumping Stations. He visits Banaras Pumping Station, Pathan Colony Pumping Station, Disco Pumping Station, Al-Hira Pumping Station, Bewa Colony Pumping Station and German School Pumping Station.

During his visit he directed that record of generators run by diesel must be maintained at all pumping stations as well as in the register maintained at pumping station using diesel. He directed Chief Engineers to ensure coordination between Bulk and Distribution departments to ensure just and fair distribution of water across the city.

He said that load shedding hours must be kept in mind when formulating supply schedule. He said that Pumping Station capacity must be increased. Schedule of bulk water supply must also be formulated and supply to all areas must be ensured. He said that supply to all areas during Ramazan must be ensured especially in the tail end areas.

He directed officers to fulfil their duties with honesty. Field officers and staff must not keep themselves to the offices and not only visit their concerned areas but also coordinate with Members of National and Provincial Assemblies for their guidance. Complaints received from MPAs, MNAs and citizens must be resolved immediately on priority basis.
