Karachi, August 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Misbahuddin Farid visited Liyari Sewerage Pumping Stations with Chief Engineer, Superintendent Engineer and other concerned officers were also present on this occasion. Secretary Ali Ahmed and M.D KW and SB Misbahuddin Farid also meet Member of Provincial Assembly Saaniya Naaz Baloch.
On this occassion, M.P.A Naaz Baloch informed them about the poor sewage condition in the area. She informed that the sewerage pumping stations in Liyari are working under the capacity causing overflow and decrease in sewage disposal from some areas of Liyari and it requires immediate attention.
Secretary Local Government listening to the complaints scorned concerned officers and directed them to ensure that the motors at all pumping stations in Liyari are repaired immediately and negligence would result in strict action against the officer responsible. He directed Chief Engineer to ensure that the sewerage system is functional in all areas of Liyari.
He expressed his displeasure that diesel is received as per quota however generators running on diesel have not been used. He directed that generators must be ran on the diesel received to ensure swift provision of sewerage facilities to the residents of Liyari and adjoining areas during load shedding hours.
M.D KW and SB expressing his displeasure over lack of coordination between KW and SB officers and elected representatives directed that all officers must maintain coordination with Elected Representatives and resolve problems pointed out by them on immediate basis.
Secretary Local Government assured Member of Provincial Assembly that the complaints would be resolved in a swift manner. Whereas, M.D KW and SB directed the officers to ensure that all complaints are resolved and no further complaints are received in this regard. During the visit Secretary Ali Ahmed and M.D KW and SB visits Tenri Road, Chakewara, Bakra Peerhi Lee Market and other pumping stations and directed that pollution in potable water should also be eliminated.
On this occasion M.D KW and SB stated that all officers and staff of KW and SB have already been informed about the Policy to maintain coordination with Elected Members of National and Provincial Assembly and resolve complaints immediately with their guidance. Any officer found negligent would face strict action and would be answerable to M.N.As, M.P.As and citizens.
M.D KW and SB directed Chief Engineer to ensure that all areas in Liyari get fair and swift supply of water and any shortage complaints would not be tolerated. He said that supply to tail end areas must also be ensured since provision of water and sewerage facilities to the citizens is our utmost priority. We are a public service institution dedicated to provide the citizens of Karachi with these services.
