Mayor Karachi lay wreath on Mazar-e-Quaid, lead fire brigade rally, hoist national flag in KMC building

Karachi, August 16, 2019 (PPI-OT): Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said that this year whole Pakistani nation was showing solidarity with Kashmiris. Kashmiri blood would not go in vain and the time of their independence was near. Whole Pakistani nation, army and government was standing with Kashmiris. He said this after lying wreath on the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on 14th August and while leading a fire brigade rally and after that while talking to media at the national flag hoisting in KMC head office. The flag of Azad Kashmir was also hoisted besides the Pakistani flag.

Deputy Mayor Arshad Hasan, Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rehman, chairmen of KMC council and officers were also present on this occasion. Mayor Karachi said that we should remember Kashmiris in these moments of observing our Independence Day. Replying to a query he said that infrastructure in Karachi could not bear the 200-milliliter rain, the city will be totally destroyed if immediate measures are not taken.

Sindh government should stop investing on ground and spend this money beneath the surface so that city infrastructure could be restored. He said that the drains were cleaned before rains therefore no overflow was seen. Sindh solid waste management board received 24 billion in four years, where this money went. K-Electric must give the answer for over 30 deaths in Karachi due to electrocution in rains. This happened only in Karachi. He expressed hope that the prime minister would soon announce special funds for Karachi.
