Meeting of Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination held

Islamabad, December 06, 2016 (PPI-OT): A meeting of the Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination held today in the Committee Room of M/o National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, G-5/2, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi, MNA, to consider HIV/AIDS (Safety and Control) Bill, 2013 (moved by Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, MNA), The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, 2016 (moved by Ms. Parveen Masood Bhatti, MNA) and to discuss the admission policy of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM and DC) in MBBS/BDS for Private Medical Colleges.

The Committee considered the HIV/AIDS (Safety and Control) Bill, 2013 in detail. The Committee recommended that the media campaign be launched for the awareness of the public to control the menace of HIV/AIDS in the country. Moreover, the Civil Society might also be activated for that purpose. The Committee decided to take all the Provinces on board while framing the laws pertaining to the subjects related to Provinces.

The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was also considered in detail. The Committee directed that the comprehensive Bill be drafted as it was the sensitive legislation dealing with the transplant of human organs.

The Committee also discussed the admission policy of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM and DC) in MBBS/BDS for Private Medical Colleges. The Committee directed that the admission policy for the private medical colleges be framed according to the rules and regulations of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council along with keeping in view the interest of students.
