Mian Zahid Hussain Celebrates UAE’s National Day, Highlights $7.4 Billion Trade Achievement

Karachi: Mian Zahid Hussain, a prominent leader in Pakistan’s business community, has extended his warm felicitations to the United Arab Emirates on its 54th National Day. He praised the deep-rooted connection between the two nations and highlighted the significant milestone of surpassing $7.4 billion in bilateral trade.

In his statement, Hussain paid tribute to the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, recognizing his enduring legacy. He emphasized the strong bonds of brotherhood and respect between Pakistan and the UAE, which have been instrumental in fostering their relationship. He acknowledged the contributions of UAE diplomats in Pakistan, highlighting their role in nurturing amicable relations.

Hussain noted that the UAE is home to millions of Pakistanis, serving as a pivotal element in Pakistan’s economic stability. He underscored the growth in bilateral trade, with Pakistani exports to the UAE showing a notable increase, illustrating a broadening economic partnership.

He praised the UAE’s investment in Pakistan’s logistics and port sectors, specifically mentioning the Karachi Port Trust projects by Abu Dhabi Ports and DP World. These ventures, he asserted, are pivotal for Pakistan’s maritime economy. Additionally, he acknowledged the UAE’s expanding influence in Pakistan’s telecommunications and banking sectors, aligning with global digital trends.

Hussain highlighted the vital role of the Pakistani diaspora in the UAE, whose remittances are projected to surpass $8 billion, bolstering Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves.

Looking forward, he urged both governments to capitalize on the outcomes of recent Joint Ministerial Commissions, advocating for enhanced cooperation in areas like corporate farming, food security, renewable energy, and information technology. He expressed optimism about potential opportunities arising from the UAE’s “Falcon Arabic” AI initiative and Pakistan’s tech talent.

Hussain concluded with prayers for the UAE’s continued prosperity under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan’s business community to fortify these bilateral ties.
