Minister Amir Maqam Leads Rally in Islamabad for Kashmir Black Day, Calls on UN for Action

Islamabad: Engineer Amir Maqam, Minister for Kashmir Affairs, led a significant rally in Islamabad on Sunday to mark Kashmir Black Day and voice solidarity with the residents of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, during the rally, Minister Maqam invoked the memory of October 27, 1947—the day Indian forces began their occupation of Kashmir. He emphasized the unyielding spirit of the Kashmiri people, who have persevered in their quest for self-determination for over seven decades despite severe repression and significant loss of life.

Highlighting the extensive sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, Maqam criticized the global human rights community for its inaction and challenged the United Nations to uphold its resolutions concerning Kashmir’s right to self-determination. He underscored Pakistan’s enduring support for the Kashmiri cause, noting the discrepancy between international promises and actions regarding the region.

Maqam also referenced recent elections held in occupied Kashmir, suggesting they be viewed as a referendum against Indian rule. He praised Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for his advocacy on Kashmir and Palestine at the UN General Assembly and reassured continued support from Pakistan for Kashmir’s political, diplomatic, and moral struggle.

The rally also saw participation from senior leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK), including Muhammad Farooq Rehmani and Mushaal Hussein Mullick, who echoed Maqam’s calls for international intervention and justice for Kashmir.
