Minister for States and Frontier Region meets European Union Ambassador

Islamabad, June 13, 2016 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for States and Frontier Region Lt Gen ® Abdul Qadir Baloch has met with EU Ambassador HE Jean-Francois Cautain today. The minister discussed the various areas of mutual cooperation with the ambassador especially those related to FATA and Afghan refugees, the minister expressed his dissatisfaction on the pace of the work in Afghanistan for the repatriation of Afghan refugees.

He said that for successful repatriation of refugees there should be conducive environment for the incoming Afghans in Afghanistan but such concrete steps are still needed to be taken by afghan government. The minister informed the ambassador about the proposed FATA reforms draft which will be approved by the cabinet and the PM.

The bill would ensure empowerment of the people of FATA, institutional capacity building, developments in health education and environment and creation of job opportunities in different fields including mining. The ambassador has offered his full support for the various development projects in FATA.
