Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Launches Task Force to Tackle University Financial Crisis

Peshawar, Minister of Higher Education Meena Khan announced the formation of a task force under the direction of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to probe into the persistent financial troubles facing universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This initiative aims to craft a sustainable financial model for higher education institutions.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister Khan outlined the task force’s mission to develop a roadmap for universities to achieve financial self-sufficiency. She discussed ongoing plans to establish a provincial higher education commission following the 18th amendment, similar to actions taken by other provinces. The task force will also review and propose necessary amendments to the Universities Act, aiming to modernize and align higher education with current market demands, including introducing market-oriented courses and planning endowment funds to support orphan girls at the intermediate level.
