MMM issues fresh protest calendar, strike in IHK on Thursday

Srinagar, March 24, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat (MMM), a representative forum of pro-liberation organisations, spearheading the campaign to seek return of mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, on Sunday announced a fresh protest calendar for the coming week. As per the calendar issued after a meeting of the MMM in Srinagar, protest demonstrations would be held after Maghrib prayers on Monday (March 25) during which pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans would be raised.

On Tuesday, campaign for writing slogans ‘Shame India’ on currency notes would be launched. On Wednesday, the students would hold protest demonstrations in their respective colleges and condemn arrests spree in the territory.

On Thursday, complete strike would be observed for pressing the demand of mortal remains of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru and against the arrest of leaders, youth and harassment of people across the territory.

On Friday, demonstrations would be held after Juma prayers. On Saturday, online campaign through social networking sites would be carried out to demand the return of the bodies of martyred Kashmiri leaders. On Sunday, routine activities would be conducted.
