Mob Attack in West Bengal Targets Muslim Man on False Theft Accusations

Kolkata: In the recent surge of communal violence in India, a Muslim youth was brutally attacked by Hindu extremists in the Bankra area of Howrah district, West Bengal, on allegations of theft, highlighting the escalating tensions in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident involved Sheikh Masood-ul-Hassan, also known as Manto, who was assaulted while heading to a friend’s house. Local police reported that the 30-year-old was mistaken for a thief by a mob that accused him of stealing a mobile phone, despite his protests of innocence.

The assault continued until local residents intervened and transported the injured Masood to a private hospital in Howrah, where he remains in treatment. Community members have vouched for Masood’s character and integrity, demanding justice for the unwarranted attack. His family has called for immediate action against the perpetrators.
