Modi Government Accused of Disempowering Kashmiris, Says Report

Islamabad, A recent report accuses the Modi regime of systematically disempowering and disenfranchising the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) since the revocation of the territory’s special status in August 2019. The move, which also saw the imposition of a military siege, is criticized for undermining the political, constitutional, and economic rights of Kashmiri Muslims.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the report asserts that the primary goal behind the Indian government’s actions on August 5, 2019, was to marginalize Muslim communities in IIOJK, advancing a broader Hindutva agenda. The analysis suggests that these efforts are part of a concerted campaign to dilute the Muslim identity of the region through various political and legal measures, in direct contravention of United Nations resolutions and international laws.

Highlighting the Modi government’s issuance of unilateral orders to advance its anti-Kashmir policies, the report condemns attempts to alter the demographic composition of IIOJK, framing these moves as an existential threat to the Muslim character of the territory. It accuses the BJP-RSS coalition of aspiring to establish a Hindu civilization in the predominantly Muslim region, a strategy that has sparked significant resistance among the Kashmiri population.

The determination of Kashmiris to resist these policies and to continue their struggle for the right to self-determination is emphasized as a counter to the Indian government’s initiatives. The report calls attention to the ongoing conflict between the Modi regime’s attempts to reshape IIOJK and the steadfast resolve of its people to uphold their cultural and religious identity.
