Monsoon Rains to Intensify Across Pakistan, Says National Weather Forecasting Centre

Islamabad: The National Weather Forecasting Centre has predicted a significant increase in monsoon activity across various regions of Pakistan from July 8 to July 16, impacting Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, Islamabad, and the northern territories with varying intensities of rainfall and thunderstorms.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea will strengthen and affect the upper parts of the country starting July 10. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for several districts across Kashmir, including Neelum Valley and Muzaffarabad, from July 10 to July 16, with breaks in between. Similarly, extensive rainfall is expected in Punjab and Islamabad, affecting major cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad from the evening of July 10 to July 15.

In Balochistan, while most districts will experience hot and humid conditions, eastern parts such as Khuzdar and Kalat are anticipated to receive rain and thunderstorms on July 8 and 9, and again from July 12 to 14. Sindh is also set to face monsoon showers, particularly in Karachi, Jacobabad, and Sukkur on July 8 and 9, with a second spell anticipated on July 12 and 13.

Northern regions in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, including Swat and Kohistan, will see similar weather patterns from July 11 to July 15. Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to remain partly cloudy to cloudy, with rain expected in areas like Skardu and Gilgit from July 11 to July 15.

The forecast highlights a critical period for the regions, urging residents and authorities to prepare for the upcoming weather conditions to mitigate potential impacts.
