Mushaal Hussein Mullick Asserts India’s Actions Cannot Dampen Kashmiri Spirit for Freedom

Islamabad: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organization and wife of detained Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Mohammad Yasin Malik, declared on Saturday that India’s efforts have not succeeded in weakening the Kashmiri resolve for self-determination. This statement comes in light of India’s 2019 action to revoke the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a media interview, Mushaal called for international action against groups like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which she labeled as terrorist. She highlighted that the issue of Kashmir’s autonomy and India’s subsequent policies have garnered extensive discussion globally and within India, criticizing moves to resettle non-native residents in the region.

Mushaal voiced concerns over the leasing of Kashmiri land to foreigners, the overtaking of religious sites and forest lands by the New Delhi government, and the barring of Kashmiris from employment opportunities and banking services. She asserted that these actions represent severe violations of international law and human rights.

In response to questions about recent electoral outcomes in the region, Mushaal emphasized that the Kashmiri electorate has largely repudiated leaders perceived as pro-India, underscoring the dire and worsening conditions in IIOJK. She called for stronger international and local advocacy against what she terms Indian barbarism in Kashmir.
