National Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker Congratulate Dr. Nafisa Shah on her Unopposed Election to Common Wealth Parliamentary Association

Islamabad, September 19, 2012 (PPI-OT): Dr. Nafisa Shah, MNA/Chairperson of the National Commission for Human Development has been unanimously elected as the Vice-Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Common Wealth Parliamentary Association for 2nd consecutive term. According to a message received from Colombo, Sri Lanka, Dr. Nafisa Shah was unanimously supported by the CPA Members for the Vice-Chairpersonship of the Executive Committee.

The 58th Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is being held from 11th to 15th September, 2012 in Colombo. A 22-member Parliamentary delegation with representation from Senate, National Assembly and four Provincial Assemblies is participating in the Conference. The Pakistani delegation has termed the un-opposed election of Dr. Nafisa Shah, for the 2nd term as a significant achievement for the Pakistan.

Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker and Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker, National Assembly have congratulated Dr. Nafisa Shah on her unanimous election. They termed it a befitting recognition of Pakistan’s role in the comity of democratic nations. They also expressed their gratitude to the CPA Members for extending their support in that regard.
