National Ulema Convention Stresses Peace and Unity in Islamabad

Islamabad: A significant assembly of Islamic scholars convened at the Pakistan-China Friendship Center for the National Ulema Convention, with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir as principal figures. The convention emphasized the intrinsic peace-loving teachings of Islam and the vital role of religious leaders in promoting unity and countering extremism in society.

According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister articulated a vision of Pakistan anchored in the principles of love, compassion, and acceptance, recognizing the country’s diverse cultural and religious fabric as a strength. He highlighted the importance of the Ulema and Mashaikh in fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings among the youth and countering misinformation. The Prime Minister also paid homage to the security forces for their sacrifices in protecting the nation.

General Munir, in his address, reaffirmed the military’s dedication to eradicating terrorism and extremism from Pakistan. He condemned the divisive and violent tactics employed by extremist groups and underscored the Ulema’s role in promoting a peaceful and inclusive society. The conference also addressed regional issues, expressing solidarity with Kashmiris and Palestinians facing conflicts.
