NDMA Establishes New Forum to Enhance Disaster Management in Pakistan

Islamabad, The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has launched the Disaster Management Coordination Forum (DMCF), a new national platform aimed at improving disaster management collaboration across Pakistan. This forum seeks to facilitate strategic guidance and enhance coordination and monitoring of disaster management efforts at both national and provincial levels.

According to National Disaster Management Authority, the DMCF’s inaugural meeting took place at NDMA Headquarters, led by Chairman NDMA, Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik. The event saw participation from NDMA’s senior management and the Director Generals of the Provincial Disaster Management Authorities, Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority, and State Disaster Management Authority.

The DMCF is scheduled to convene quarterly, focusing on the strategic directives outlined in its Terms of Reference. NDMA’s Disaster Risk Reduction Wing will provide secretariat support to the DMCF, aiming to ensure efficient functioning and sustained action on disaster management initiatives.

This development represents a significant enhancement in NDMA’s ongoing efforts to improve disaster preparedness and response across Pakistan, promoting a unified approach to managing disasters at all levels of governance.
