Nine killed, several injured in blast at cracker factory in West Bengal

Kolkata, May 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): At least nine people were killed and several others injured in an explosion in the Indian state of West Bengal. The explosion took place in an illegal cracker factory at Egra town in Medinipur district of the state. The impact of the blast was so massive that the factory which was being run from a residential building collapsed. The local residents said the site looked like a “war zone” with body parts and debris strewn all around, including in a nearby pond.
