Lahore, The National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) has announced the establishment of specialized control rooms aimed at ensuring an uninterrupted power supply across Pakistan during Ramadan, particularly focusing on the critical times of Sehr, Iftar, and Taraweeh prayers. This initiative follows directives from the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) as part of comprehensive preparations for the holy month.
According to National Transmission and Despatch Company, a central control room has been instituted to facilitate seamless coordination with the National Power Control Center and all Distribution Companies (DISCOs), set to operate 24/7. Additionally, regional control rooms in Islamabad, Multan, and Hyderabad are established to address any emergent issues promptly. These control rooms are interconnected via video link to enhance communication and coordination efficiency.
To further bolster the reliability of the power transmission infrastructure, NTDC has also formed Asset Management (North) and (South) teams. These teams are tasked with rapid response to any faults that may occur at NTDC grid stations or transmission lines throughout the country. Officers assigned to these critical roles will maintain a constant presence at the grid stations during Ramadan to oversee operations.
Engr. Dr. Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan, Managing Director of NTDC, has issued a directive to all concerned departments and personnel to exercise heightened vigilance during Ramadan. The goal is to minimize disruptions and ensure that the power supply remains stable throughout the holy month, thereby facilitating observances and practices associated with Ramadan without inconvenience.
