OIC hailed for its continued support to Kashmir cause

Islamabad, March 18, 2023 (PPI-OT): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (PHC-AJK) chapter Convener, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, has thanked the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for reiterating its support to the Kashmiris’ just struggle for securing their right to self-determination. Mehmood Ahmed Saghar in a statement issued in Islamabad said that the Joint Communique issued after a meeting of the OIC Contact Group in Nouakchott, Mauritania, has boosted the morale of the oppressed people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the Kashmiri people are grateful to the OIC for exposing the Indian atrocities in IIOJK and highlighting the importance of the resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He maintained that the Kashmiri Hurriyat leadership has been persistently demanding the settlement of the Kashmir dispute, which continues to pose a serious threat to the peace in South Asia. He hoped that the international community will realise the sensitivity of the matter and take steps in this regard.

It is to mention here that the OIC Contact Group in the Joint Communique adopted in its meeting in Nouakchott expressed alarm at the situation in IIOJK. It reaffirmed OIC’s position on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and reiterated its firm rejection of India’s unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019.
