Omar Abdullah Warns Against Misuse of New Laws in IIOJK

Srinagar: Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference, has voiced concerns about the potential for misuse of new laws recently implemented in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, these new laws, which came into effect on Monday, substitute the Indian Penal Code (IPC) with the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Abdullah highlighted the greater potential for misuse under the new legal framework compared to its predecessors and has called on the Modi government to reassess these changes amid fears they could further erode civil liberties in the region.
