On Prime Minister’s Instructions National Disaster Management Authority sends Teams to Flood hit areas for Anti-Malaria Campaign

Islamabad: Incessant rains have caused flooding situation in Sindh. There is a rising apprehension of outbreak of epidemics in the flood hit areas.

In a pre-emptive concern initiative for the well being of the affected population, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has instructed National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to launch an anti-malaria campaign in the flood hit areas.

In compliance with the directives of the Prime Minister, the NDMA is sending forthwith Assessment Teams to all the affected areas of the recent floods. These teams consist of experts from the UNDP, UNHABITAT, UNESCO, UNOCHA and IOM.

In addition, the NDMA has dispatched another 10,000 tents which have been received by PDMA, Sindh. The NDMA has ordered the Utility Stores Corporation to provide 50,000 more ration packs for the flood affectees. In this context 12 NDMA teams have reached all the flood affected areas.

The NDMA is working incessantly to alleviate the hardships of the flood affectees.
