Pakistan and Russia Explore Enhanced Counter-Narcotics Collaboration

New york: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Kolokoltsev at the United Nations Headquarters, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in various security domains.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions between the two ministers included a focus on counter-narcotics, counter-terrorism, cybercrime, and the organization of joint police exercises. The meeting aimed to develop a cohesive strategy to counter terrorist networks operating in the region, with a particular emphasis on Afghanistan.

The ministers agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to further expand their cooperation. Mohsin Naqvi extended an invitation to Vladimir Kolokoltsev to visit Pakistan, reflecting the desire to deepen ties. The meeting also reviewed the progress made on decisions from their previous encounters.

Speaking during the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the presence of over twenty-five terrorist organizations active in Afghanistan, underscoring the shared responsibility of both nations in addressing these threats. He emphasized the necessity for collective efforts to combat terrorism effectively.
