Pakistan and Turkmenistan Commit to Accelerate TAPI Pipeline Project

Islamabad: In a significant development aimed at enhancing regional energy cooperation, Pakistan and Turkmenistan have pledged to expedite the progress on the Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline (TAPI) project. This commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting in Islamabad between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Malik, and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting underscored the strategic importance of the TAPI project in fostering economic integration and energy security between the participating nations. Dr. Malik highlighted the project’s potential to lower energy costs, boost industrial growth, and create job opportunities, emphasizing that reliable and affordable energy supplies are vital for economic stability and development.

The Turkmen delegation, led by Minister Meredov and including prominent officials from Turkmenistan’s economic and legal sectors, discussed the roadmap for future cooperation on the project. Minister Meredov expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended during their visit and reiterated Turkmenistan’s commitment to working closely with Pakistan to ensure the project’s success.

The discussions also touched on the significant strides already made in the project’s development, thanks to the focused efforts of both countries. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to continue collaborative efforts to address any challenges and to ensure the timely completion of the TAPI pipeline.
