Pakistan and Uzbekistan Push for Rapid Implementation of Trans-Regional Railway Project

Islamabad, In a significant step towards boosting regional connectivity, Pakistan and Uzbekistan have reiterated their commitment to the early implementation of the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railways project.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the commitment was solidified during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov. The railway project is expected to significantly enhance bilateral and regional trade, establishing a crucial link between South and Central Asia.

During the discussions, both sides agreed to explore new economic cooperation areas and emphasized the importance of a liberal visa regime to facilitate business and strengthen people-to-people contacts. They also expressed satisfaction with their ongoing security and defense cooperation and robust engagement at various multilateral fora, including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
