Pakistan-Benelux consultation on issues of mutual interest

Islamabad: Delegations of Pakistan and Benelux countries (Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands) met in Islamabad today for the first-ever consultations on issues of mutual interest.

The Benelux delegation comprised Mr. Karel Van Oosterom, Director General for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Mr. Alain Hanssen, Head of south Asia and Afghanistan Desk, Ministry of foreign Affairs of Belgium, and Mr. Georges Friden, Director General for Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg. The Pakistan delegation was led by Mr. Abdul Basit, Additional Secretary for Europe in Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

The two sides discussed issues of mutual concern both in bilateral, regional and multilateral context.

Both sides decided to continue consultations on a regular basis. The delegations affirmed to explore all possible avenues to further promote cooperation and understanding between Pakistan and Benelux countries for the common benefit of their peoples.
