Pakistan Bureau of Statistics Releases Results of 7th Population and Housing Census

Islamabad: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has unveiled the results of the 7th Population and Housing Census-2023, marking significant demographic changes and challenges.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan’s population now stands at 241.49 million, with a male-to-female ratio showing a slight predominance of males. The data reveals a high population growth rate of 2.55 percent, the highest in the region, projecting a potential doubling of the population by 2050 if current trends continue.

The literacy rate for individuals ten years and older is 61 percent. The census, touted as Pakistan’s first digital census for its use of technology, was hailed by Ahsan Iqbal during the launching ceremony for its transparency and successful execution, crediting various organizations including SUPARCO and security forces for their role.
