Islamabad, In a move advocating for political freedoms in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Pakistan has called on the Indian government to lift restrictions on banned Hurriyat parties in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, during a press briefing in Islamabad, highlighted that India had imposed bans on 14 political parties within IIOJK, including significant groups such as the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League and four factions of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League. Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri cause, affirming the country’s dedication to backing the Kashmiri people’s quest for self-determination in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The spokesperson emphasized the international status of Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory, underscoring the longstanding nature of its contention at the global level. Pakistan’s appeal to India reflects a call for the restoration of political activities and the recognition of the Kashmiri people’s rights to representation and self-determination.
