Pakistan Consulate in Jeddah has clarified Pakistani media reports

Jeddah, August 05, 2012 (PPI-OT): A section of Pakistani print and electronic media has misreported that wife of Mr. Mohammad Rameez who has been arrested from ‘*Haram on 21July* 2012 as charge of theft has not been extended any assistance‚ which is not based on facts. On the contrary‚ Pakistan Consulate in Jeddah has been proactively pursuing the case and Consul(Welfare) is in constant touch with Mrs. Rameez who has also acknowledged the untiring assistance extended by the Consulate.

Since lodging of the complaint by Mrs. Rameez‚ on July 20‚2012 Consulate’s Welfare Wing has been making all possible efforts to plead Mr. Rameez’s case with the Saudi authorities concerned and extend all possible assistance to the aggrieved family.

Two teams have been constituted in this regard; one to repatriate Mrs. Kosain and her minor daughter to Pakistan at the earliest by completing the requisite procedural formalities and the second to secure release of Mr. Rameez. It may be taken into account that the Saudi rules prohibit the travel of a woman without a “Mehram”.

Meanwhile‚ Ambassador of Pakistan to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Muhammad Naeem Khan has approached the Saudi Ministry of Interior pleading Mr. Rameez’s innocence and requesting the Saudi authorities to have a sympathetic consideration of the case. The Ambassador himself spoke to Mrs. Rameez and assured her of our fullest assistance and cooperation.

The investigation against Mohammad Rameez are under way and Consulate will ensure that no injustice is done to the detained Rameez and his family.
