Beijing, The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing vibrantly marked the 84th anniversary of Pakistan Day, gathering embassy officials, their families, and members of the Pakistani community in China to honor the historic Lahore Resolution passed on March 23, 1940. The event celebrated the demand for a separate homeland for Muslims of the British Indian Empire, a pivotal moment in the country’s journey to independence.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the raising and hoisting of the national flag by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, accompanied by the national anthem. The event featured the reading of messages from Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, which paid homage to the Lahore Resolution as a cornerstone in Pakistan’s creation. These messages also honored the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding leaders and underscored Pakistan’s contributions to international peace, security, and stability.
In addition to celebrating national history and achievements, the leadership’s messages expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, recognizing their struggle in the face of challenges posed by Indian forces. Ambassador Hashmi, in his address, called for a reinvigoration of commitment to Pakistan’s progress, development, and prosperity, emphasizing the day as an opportunity for reflection on national unity and goals.
