Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front Founders Alliance starts electioneering for forthcoming polls

Lahore, August 27, 2012 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front Founders Alliance Monday formally kick started electioneering for forthcoming LCCI polls scheduled for September 19-20. The Chairman PIAF-Founders Alliance Mian Mohammad Ashraf and Chairman Alliance Steering Committee Mian Anjum Nisar jointly performed the ribbon cutting ceremony in the presence of a large number of businessmen belonging to different city trade and industry associations.

LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Senior Vice President Kashif Younis Meher, Founders Group Chairman Shahzada Alam Monnoo, PIAF Chairman Engineer Sohail Lashari,former LCCI Presidents Iftikhar Ali Malik, Mian Shafqat Ali, Syed Mohsin Raza Bukhari, Mohammad Ali Mian, Mian Misbahur Rehman, Senator Zafar Iqbal, Tariq Hameed, Bashir A Buksh, Shiekh Mohammad Asif, LCCI former Senior Vice President Abdul Basit, Yaqub Tahir Izhar, Tahir Javaid Malik, Sheikh Mohammad Arshad, former Vice Presidents Shafqat Saeed Piracha, Aftab Ahmad Vohra, Mubashir Sheikh, President Quomi Tajir Ittehad Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, President Anjuman-e-Tajiran Urdu Bazar Khalid Pervaiz, Samiullah Butt of All Paper Merchants Association, President Anjuma-e-Tajiran Anarkali Ashraf Bhatti, Chairman Neela Gunbud Market Mohammad Ali, Cottage Industry Chairman Ghulam Sarwar Malik, Chairman Ferozepur Road Marbler Markets Ch Mehboob Ali Sirki, Chairman Lahore Township Industrial Association Iftikhar Bashir, former LTIA Chairmen Mian Abuzar Shad, Zaheer Bhutta, Haroon Shafiq Chaudhry and representatives of various other industrial associations present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman PIAF-Founders Alliance Mian Mohammad Ashraf, Chairman Alliance Steering Committee Mian Anjum Nisar, Chairman Founders Group Shahzada Alam Monnoo and Chairman PIAF Engineer Sohail Lashari said that the business community deserves appreciation in highest possible terms for continuing their businesses despite multiple internal and external challenges. They said that it was enough to make the point the private sector is competent enough to deal with all sorts of challenges.

They said that an acute shortage of electricity, deteriorating law and order situation and political instability were the major reasons that kept the entire economy hostage but the entire business community played its role very nicely and resultantly the government achieved all revenue collection targets.

They said that PIAF-Founders Alliance understands that Kalabagh Dam is only solution to ensure cheaper and uninterrupted power supply therefore the Alliance would to press upon the government for early construction of this mega project of national importance.

PIAF Founders Alliance leaders said that the Alliance has always introduced a true leadership for the economic wellbeing of the country and this year again only those people would be introduced who have understanding to the economic issues.

SAARC Chamber Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik and LCCI former Senior Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad said that the business community is perturbed over the killings in Karachi as it is the hub of the economic activities and the government should make foolproof arrangements to bring normalcy there.

The LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry strived for ensuring relief to trade and industry during the whole year. He said that the SRO 191 was a big issue for the entire business community as it was near to impossible to continue business in the presence of SRO 191 and the LCCI compelled the FBR to withdraw the SRO.

He said the sharp cut in mark up rate is also result of LCCI efforts who convinced the State Bank Governor that cut in interest rate is a must for the of revival of economic activities. The LCCI President said that 200 basis point cut was made in October 2011 and another 1500 basis points were curtailed this month.
