Karachi: A journey that started 7 years ago in Hong Kong for the Pakistani Technology Industry reached an important milestone on November 11, 2011 in Pattaya, Thailand.
After winning 7 silvers in 2010 at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards 2010 held in Kuala Lumpur in October of last year, the P@SHA (Pakistan Software Houses Association) led and sponsored Pakistan delegation on Nov 11 delivered another stunning performance in front of the who’s who of the technology industry in the Asia Pacific region.
Team P@SHA from Pakistan picked up two Gold medals in the e-Logistics and e-Health categories while five silvers weighed in the APICTA categories of E-Inclusion and E-Community, Security, Financial Application, Communication and E-Government.
International APICTA Judges who graded and evaluated categories in which Pakistan participated spoke about the consistently high standard of presentations made by the Pakistani delegation, the level of preparedness and professionalism of Pakistani delegates and the trouble they had in picking winners and merit awards in competitive categories such as e-Learning and New Media and Entertainment.
Mr. Stephen Lau, a member of the judges Advisory Panel, the EXCO as well as a member of the core team behind the awards spoke about the progress Pakistan has made across the years at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards and how he has seen us grow from a small delegation to one of the fastest growing delegations at APICTA . The 30 strong Pakistan delegations put together their hands to celebrate each Gold and Merit win with 600 hundred delegates in attendance at the event.
Over the years the event has become a platform for Pakistani companies to meet with partners, counterparts and competition on one platform while presenting the case for their products in front of judges from 20 economies.
This year too was no different. While some teams didn’t win, their pitches and products didn’t go un-noticed. We expect and hope that over the next few weeks some of these regional collaboration conversations will generate even more good news for Team Pakistan.
Team Pakistan will now represent Pakistan next year in Brunei at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards 2012.

The pre-awards night – update
As the sun sets on 11th November 2011 at the Dusit Thani in Pattaya Thailand, team Pakistan gets ready to receive its score card on a team effort that started last year at the close of the Awards night in Kula Lumpur Malaysia in 2010. Every year after the awards night three to four P@SHA APICTA Awards advisors and judges get together to determine what we did right and where we missed out.
We surprised ourselves and our well wishers and partners at APICTA last year with our tally of seven silvers. It was an exhilarating moment hearing the name of Pakistan being called out at the Kula Lumpur Convention Center last year with the cream of the technology community from the Asia Pacific region.
Let’s see what tonight’s score card looks like.
Here is the list of categories in which we presented, our presenters, our products and their companies. This group flew our flag high, competing with 160 nominations from 12 economies. A final 72 hour push involved 6 mentors and advisors working till late at night with nominees from Pakistan polishing pitches, suggesting tweaks and helping with delivery. The push started with the arrival of the Judges at the Dusit Thani on 8th November.
A group 50 plus qualified and distinguished APICTA judges heard pitches starting from 8:30 am till 5:30 pm for two days running followed by a final round of approval and validation of results on the morning of the third day.
